Dear Human,
What is Humanness? At the heart of Humankind, it’s You.
Humankind is an act of relentless love. I didn’t start with a PhD. in chemistry, a state of the art lab, or a trust fund to bankroll a huge warehouse. But what I do have is persistence, an immovable stubbornness to put in the work every sleepless night, experiment after experiment, to craft the best candle you’ll ever experience.
My values are simple but non-negotiable: I make my customers feel listened to and seen as if my life depended on it (because it does), I push the boundaries of what a candle can be (dual layers, hello!), and pour every spare minute of my time perfecting the perfect blend (I haven’t slept in the last 100 days). This is not a job, it’s my life, my obsession, my breath, it’s Humankind. I’m consumed by it. And I don’t really know why - it’s just part of me, a thread that pulls from the deepest parts of my being. It feels limitless, timeless, beyond the physical. It’s everything that keeps me going.
This journey started with a soul I had tucked away - shoved into a box in the back closet of my brain that I ignored. For years, it stayed there, shriveled, black, and forgotten, until finally, it cried out to me. When I finally opened that box, my soul was lifeless. So, I picked it up, made some less-than-perfect tealight candles, and slowly began to nurture it back to life. Slowly, my soul began to glow. It filled with light, with blood, and life. Together, we brought my Humanness back to life.
Why Humankind? Because I believe that you, too, have your Humanness. You have that drive, that spark, the intangible part of you that demands to be nurtured. Deep down, we all have a soul, and our greatest duty is to feed it. To take care of it. To allow it to thrive. I know it’s in You. I am certain it’s in You.
My life’s work are Humankind Candles. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it for you.
